MasterChef Season 12, Episode 8

Image
Hello everybody! Let’s talk about another older episode of MasterChef! More specifically, Season 12, Episode 8! When the home cooks first entered the kitchen in this episode, the flags for a bunch of different countries were all over the place. Chef Ramsay then explained that for that week’s challenge, they were going to do some globetrotting, and cooking fusion dishes.  To inspire the home cooks, the judges brought in a modern fusion cuisine pioneer, who is known for her fusion of international cuisine and Southern Comfort Food. This guest judge was revealed to be Chef Tiffany Derry. I know what you’re thinking: How can she be a guest judge? She’s already a judge on the show! Well, she wasn’t at this point in time, so she was a guest judge for this episode. She explained that to her, fusion was just blending of two different types of cuisines, but doing it to where it’s harmonious. Joe Bastianich then said that for the challenge, the contestants had to cook a Southern fusion dish....

Hell's Kitchen Season 17, Episode 4

Hello everybody! As I have already said a few times, today I am going to start doing write-ups of old Hell’s Kitchen episodes! This is going to be interesting for me, because this is my first time writing about it, and it’s completely different from MasterChef. So in a way, I am going to be learning about how to write about it as I’m writing about it. I will be using the same Random Number Generator strategy that I used for MasterChef, so as a result, I am going to write about Episode 4 of Season 17.  Before I actually get into the episode, I feel that I should give you all some background on the show.  Every season starts off with a certain number of contestants that make up The Red Team and The Blue Team, with The Red Team being all women, and The Blue Team being all men. Each episode for the most part consists of two parts. The first part is a Team Challenge, while the second part is Dinner Service. There is considerably less of a focus on the food here than there is on Mas...

Storm's A Brewin' (Season 14, Episode 13)

Image
Hello everyone! I have talked about doing write-ups of older episodes of MasterChef, and I feel that the time to do so is now!  As there are so many episodes in the series, I am not going to go in order from the beginning. Instead, I will be putting the season numbers into the Random Number Generator, seeing which season it lands on, and then putting in the number of episodes into it, and then seeing which episode it lands on.  With all that out of the way, we are going to start our rewatch journey with Episode 13 of Season 14, Storm’s A Brewin’! For this challenge, the home cooks all had to make dishes that featured Coffee. In order to prove that it was possible to make a dish featuring Coffee, Chef Ramsay gave a cooking demonstration, in which he incorporated Coffee in five ways. He started off by putting a Dry Coffee Rub on a Filet Mignon, which he said helps it tenderize, then put some Oil in a pan, and then put some Garlic, Thyme, and Rosemary in the pan as well.  He...

MasterChef Spoilers

Hello everybody! Today, I am going to be writing a blog post that is unlike anything I have ever written, and potentially unlike anything else I will ever write. As I said at the end of my last blog post, MasterChef is going on hiatus until July 15, as this week, they thought it was a good idea to air two hours of their Say What You See game show The Floor, and then the World Cup starts the very next day. However, there are some things that I feel need to be addressed right now. And by that, I mean spoilers.  Here’s something you should all know. Fox is VERY bad when it comes to spoilers for their shows, as if you are paying close enough attention to any of the trailers, you will find out very important information about who gets eliminated and when, or how long certain contestants are in the competition. It has happened with Hell’s Kitchen, it has happened with The Masked Singer, and it has happened with MasterChef.  This is nothing that is surprising to me, as I have been aw...

World Cup Cookoff

Image
After a surprisingly great episode last week with the first Team Challenge of the season, it was time for the next challenge, where all the contestants would be making elevated dishes for a FIFA World Cup Watch Party! Yes, they have gone all in on the World Cup theming this season. I’m not sure how I feel about this, because at times, I understand it, but at other times, it is just cringeworthy. I was still looking forward to the episode, as I always enjoy seeing what the contestants make.  Before I get into this episode, there is something that I need to address. The people on this show have clearly been paying attention to Top Chef and all the product placement there, especially for products that are not even cooking related whatsoever. What I mean is that this episode, for whatever reason, featured product placement for The Home Depot. Product placement is not something new for MasterChef, as they used to have the most hokey product placement for Walmart for virtually any challe...
