An Introduction To This Blog
Hello everyone!
As you are probably aware, The Masked Singer Season 14 Finale aired last week. I obviously loved it, but as soon as it was over, I realized something. I had no idea what I could write about next. I couldn’t just write about upcoming events and cool and interesting places, as that will become boring to me if it’s the only thing I write about. And I am currently in a place of uncertainty with both of my favorite shows, The Masked Singer and Match Game.
With regards to The Masked Singer, they have not announced a Season 15 yet, but I still think it’s pretty likely, but we are currently in April, and best case scenario, the show returns in the fall, worst case scenario, the show returns early next year, and even worse case scenario, it never comes back. That’s just my way of saying that writing about hypothetical contestants and whatever else occurs to me is just not possible for me over this long period of time, as I will almost certainly be scrambling to come up with anything.
With regards to Match Game, while we don’t know anything yet, we are rapidly approaching the window in which we have our answer, and frankly, I feel there are some factors that could mean that it won’t be back this summer. First of all, many other game shows currently have casting calls, but Match Game doesn’t, and it did have one at this time last year. But even if we ignore this, there is one thing that I feel makes its chances of returning not very likely, and unfortunately, it’s one of the most important things about it: The Host, Martin Short. Now, what I mean is that in just the past few months alone, he has been through so many tragedies that I just don’t know if he would be able to do such a demanding job. There is also the chance that I could be wrong, and the show will come back for another season this summer at the time when ABC announces their summer game show lineup, but unfortunately, we’ll also have our answer if they don’t say anything at that time.
So, for a while, I felt so lost with what I was going to write about. I got so desperate, that I had to go back in time to one of my first loves: cooking shows.
Yes, for the longest time, I have been a big fan of cooking shows, which I find very ironic, because I literally don’t know how to cook. In fact, I am still a huge fan of so many cooking shows. And honestly, the cooking show that I enjoy the most is MasterChef.
For those of you who don’t know, the premise of the show is that it is a culinary competition series that searches for the best home cooks in America, puts them through a series of challenges, after which one will get eliminated, and by the end of the season, one contestant will win $250,000, the MasterChef Trophy, and the title of America’s Next MasterChef.
The show also has three judges, and they are Gordon Ramsay, chef and restaurateur Tiffany Derry, and restaurateur Joe Bastianich.
Ever since Season 9, each season has had its own theme or gimmick, and this one is no exception, as the theme this time is called “Global Gauntlet,” and will have contestants representing the cuisine and heritage of The Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Africa.
How I will write about the show will be different from how I write about The Masked Singer or Match Game, as while both of those shows have something happening every minute, MasterChef doesn’t have as much going on in the episodes, so I will be writing about the dishes that are made that land in the top or bottom, along with whatever I feel is a highlight that is worth mentioning, and if an episode is a Team Challenge, I will let you all know the dishes the teams made, as well as highlights that happen during service, which mostly consists of disasters.
This is also going to be an interesting journey and experiment for me, as for those of you who don’t remember, I actually did episode recaps of last season of MasterChef, but I gave up before the season actually ended. I think there is a big reason why I did this, and that is because I had two other shows to write about last summer, and ultimately writing about three shows at the same time proved to be too much for me. So, right now I have absolutely no other shows to look forward to, so I can focus all my attention on MasterChef, give better quality write-ups, and if I’m lucky, I will be able to fall back in love with MasterChef.
But that’s not all, as I had been going over another idea in my brain for the past few days that two of my friends encouraged me to follow through on. If the season goes on hiatus for whatever reason, and if there is still no Masked Singer or Match Game by the time the season wraps up, I am going to do recaps of random older episodes, much like those stars of old shows who do rewatch podcasts of their own shows.
I am also currently on the fence about this one, but if I am ever feeling adventurous, I might even do the same type of recaps for episodes of the cooking show Beat Bobby Flay…!
So, overall, this is my introduction to this new blog, I hope you all come along for the ride with me and enjoy what I have to say, and I’ll see you all next week when the season premieres!
